Here are some of the latest happenings and news regarding SAT and ACT testing this Fall:
- SAT exams are scheduled for Aug 29, Sep 26, Oct 3, Nov 7, and Dec 5.
- ACT exams are scheduled for Sep 12/13/19, Oct 10/17/24/25, and Dec 12.
- Exam availability will depend on two factors.
- College Board or ACT’s overall decision on the national level
- Local state and county’s decision on whether testing centers will be open
- Previous plans for online (at-home) testing will not be available yet.
My personal advice for Fall testing:
- Availability for Fall testing is limited due to capacity restrictions and high demand.
- Register for multiple exam dates in case one is cancelled .
- If exam is cancelled, register for an alternative test date immediately.
- Most colleges are test optional this year meaning college applicants do not have to submit a SAT/ACT score. However, schools very much prefer scores to be submitted. Particularly this year, submitting a good score will give the applicant a big advantage.
- For students that plan on enrolling in a local community college with the goal of transferring to a major university after year one, a good SAT/ACT score significantly improves chance of acceptance. These students should consider registering for one of the Spring 2021 exams when cancellations are less likely.
