I specialize in the SAT/ACT Math exams and know the questions and formats (and tricks) inside out.

My goal is to work with your student on SAT/ACT Math and drastically improve their score. I will work with the student to get them familiar with the exact types of questions, things to know/memorize, pitfalls to watch out for on these tests. Your student’s score WILL improve and more than likely will improve greatly.

act-or-sat

I typically work with my students over a span of time prior to the exam to properly prepare them. During this time, I find their strengths and weaknesses and formulate a strategy to optimize their score.

For my test preparation, I first instruct students on formulas they need to memorize, then work with them to figure out their thought processes through the various math questions they can expect to see on the exam, explain techniques to solve these questions, and provide homework as well as full sample tests that they will complete and I will grade to measure improvements.

Unlike testing centers and many tutors out there, my test prep is very custom to each student I work with. Preparation materials which I provide and my teachings are tailored to help  that individual student be optimally prepared for his/her exam.

TESTIMONIALS

“George was a fantastic tutor, and he really helped me a lot in preparing for the SAT. Prior to working with George, I was scoring in the mid-600s to lower-700s on the College Board’s official practice exams. After working with him, I ended up scoring a 790 on the math portion of the real exam. George was very fluid with his curriculum, and adapted quickly to my needs and abilities. His lessons were well thought through, and were rather enjoyable. George made sure that I understood every concept in its entirety and was very helpful when I had any questions about the math or the test itself. George gave me many sample problems, and from them he systematically extrapolated what I did and didn’t know. He was then able to pinpoint what my weaknesses were, and was able help me mitigate their effects. George is a really talented teacher, and I would recommend him to any one of my friends in need of an SAT tutor.

“Before I took the tutoring lessons from George, I scored in the mid 600s on the SAT math section. Once I took the lessons with George, I scored a 770. I improved tremendously once I had the lessons. I was prepared really well and I felt a lot more confident going in to take the SAT the next time. He really goes in-depth in all the topics and gives a lot of practice questions to go through as well. He also gives questions and practice tests to take home to complete as well, which I thought helped me prepare myself even more and he would answer any questions that I had and go in detail to make sure I fully understand it.”

“Short version: My son’s SAT score went from a 1320 to a 1590. The college acceptances and scholarship offers he’s been receiving these past few weeks have made us so thankful that we hired a tutor. Don’t look any further than George.

Long version: We hired George in the the Spring of my son’s sophomore year to help boost his math SAT score. He scored well on the reading section and planned to attend a liberal arts school, but needed to increase his math scores in order to become a more competitive college applicant. Wow! Not only did my “reading guy” far exceed his goal and end up with an 800 on his math SAT, he also developed great confidence in his math ability and now plans to pursue an engineering degree!

George was incredibly professional. He was punctual, friendly and always well prepared with new material. Our schedules were hectic and George’s flexibility made it easy to schedule tutoring sessions around sports and activities, altering days, times and location as needed.

Our concern with investing in a tutor was wondering whether our son would commit to doing the work, as his motivation in school tended to waver depending upon the subject and the instructor (call it selective laziness). And his mind was usually on baseball. We were amazed. He was incredibly receptive to George. Not only did he not gripe about going to tutoring, he seemed to look forward to the sessions and was diligent about completing George’s take home assignments. We never had to ride him as was often the case with school work, he just did it. We suspect he picked up on the fact that George knew he was capable of more and genuinely cared about his progress, and was inspired to meet George’s expectations. When my son learned of his perfect math score, his first text was to alert George. That says it all.”
